Stalin Defends ‘Roo’ in Budget Logo, Calls It a Symbol of Tamil Commitment

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin defended the use of Roo to represent the INR symbol in the state budget logo, stating that it shows govt. Commitment to its Tamil linguistic policy.

We aimed to reaffirm our dedication to Tamil Nadu’s language policy. However, those who oppose Tamil have turned this into an unnecessary controversy,” Stalin said in a video message.

Criticizing UFM Nirmala Sitharaman, CM noted that despite Tamil Nadu submitting “hundreds of requests” for financial assistance, she remains quiet. However, she chose to comment on the Tamil linguistics used in the state budget logo.

He further pointed out that the use of the Roo symbol has been used by herself on social media posts. “But when we use it, it suddenly becomes an issue for them,” he added. Stalin also suggested to use the ‘Rs’ instead of the rupee symbol is a common practice.
