The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad (IIT ISM Dhanbad) is hosting its 45th convocation ceremony today. President of India Droupadi Murmu will be the Chief Guest at the prestigious event.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, and the state’s Higher Education Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu are also scheduled to attend.

37 students to be awarded Gold Medals

Over 1,500 students and parents expected to participate

In view of the President’s visit, security has been tightened across Dhanbad city and nearby areas. Authorities have ordered all schools in Dhanbad to remain closed for the day. Vehicular movement from Barwadda Airport to IIT ISM Dhanbad will also remain restricted during the President’s stay.
The convocation is expected to be one of the biggest academic events in Jharkhand in 2025, celebrating the achievements of young engineers, researchers, and scholars.
